Sein Engagement hat ihn bisher in die Katastrophengebiete von Mexiko, Nepal und Indonesien gebracht. Wenn das „search and rescue“ Team von I.S.A.R. Germany zum Einsatz muss, dann ist schnelles Handeln gefragt - die Überlebenswahrscheinlichkeit der Opfer sinkt von Tag zu Tag.

Jährlich wird auf Trümmerfeldern geübt – mit und ohne Hund – damit im Ernstfall jeder Handgriff sitzt. Weltweit einsatzbereit, jederzeit.

Konzept

Für den Zuschauenden ist es kaum greifbar, was Gerd bei seinen Einsätzen erlebt. Ein Jahr lang saß das Filmteam auf gepackten Sachen, um bei einer möglichen internationalen Naturkatastrophe mitzufliegen. Doch ungewöhnlicherweise gab es in dem Jahr keinen Einsatz – das Konzept, einen bewussten Bruch in Bild und Tonsprache durch den Einsatz zu gestalten, konnte so nicht umgesetzt werden.
